A meeting set to bring to an end the ongoing nurses strike ended in a disarray after the nurses stormed out of due to the anger of no county official showing up at the meeting.

The meeting that began at around 10 am quickly heated up to an agitated debate with people hurling insults at each other inside the boardroom before the nurses stormed out.

The Kenya National Union {KNUN} officials walked out of the boardroom claiming that the meeting had no important agenda.

No county governor attended the meeting as well as the Health Committee chairman and Kisumu Governor jack Ranguma and Human Resource chairman and Kisii Governor James Ongwae instead they sent representatives from the County Public Service board and a secretariat team that included officials from the Ministry of Health.

"The secretariat team representing them did not even have a clue of what was to be discussed," said KNUN's acting Secretary General Maurice Opetu.

According to Maurice Opetu, it is not the absence of the governors that angered them but the fact that the secretaries sent to represent them did not have any clue of what was to be discussed in the meeting.
