Three months after exiting the White House, the 44th President of the United States Barack Obama is set to make a comeback into public life.

Obama will participate in a discussion with students at the University of Chicago on Monday, his office said.

Obama, who has been largely silent since passing on power to Donald Trump is set to address civic engagement and community organising. His office said that this is an effort to promote and build ‘the next generation of leaders'.

Obama is also slated to appear with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin in late May and is due to accept an award in Boston prior to that.

The first black president of the United States, who has Kenyan roots, chose to make his first public appearance in his adopted hometown, where he also made his emotional farewell speech shortly before leaving the White House.
