Three children among them a 13 year old girl have died after they were washed away by flash floods at Kisiki Cha Mzungu area in Langobaya area of Magarini constituency in Kilifi County on Friday.

The deceased persons were swept by the flash floods that ravaged the area as rains continue to cause havoc in the country.

There are fears that hundreds of other people could be displaced after River Sabaki burst its banks in areas of Bate, Dagamura Lukole and Adimaye in Magarini Sub county.

Kenya Red Cross Coast Regional manager Hassan Musa confirmed the deaths saying the 11 year old girls’ body has already been found at Jilore area.

He said the other two children were swept at Kisiki Cha mzungu within the the same area .

The two young boy’s bodies he said had already been found at Langobaya area.

Speaking on phone Musa said the two teenagers were swept away in the same area their bodies have been found within Lango baya area

Musa also confirmed that 21 households have been displaced being forced to move to higher grounds with 24 acres of farming land that hard maize and green grams being submerged in the waters after River Sabaki burst its banks.

So far he said the most affected village is the most affected and there are fears the situation could worsen following the ongoing rains up country.

Other areas that have also reportedly been affected include Dagamura in Magarini as water is beginning to flow to shambas.“River Galana has also been reported to have burst its banks in Dagamra, Parts of Lukole, Adimaye and parts of Bate but did not damage crops,’’ he said.

Musa advised those living in the lowlands to move to higher grounds particularly in the areas that are prone to floods.

Currently Malindi and Magarini have begun experiencing rains but those at high risk were the ones living near the river Galana which has burst its banks.
