Speaking to the multitudeat the scene, Lari bodaboda Group (LBG) chairman James Waweru confirmed that motorcycle (KMCB 567) owned by Janet Kanini was  stolen early in the day at 11am from Korio township.

Describing what had transpired, motorcyclist commonly known by the area locals as Njoroge said he was hired by two gentlemen to take them to Kijabe Hospital, a distance of almost 10km and opted to use a shortcut rather than using main road.

”On our way to the destination, I was ordered by one of the guys to stop claiming that he wanted to answer an incoming phone call after which they immediately threw me down to the ground before running away with my bodaboda,” said the the bodaboda rider.

Njoroge who was left wondering by the ugly incident said that he immediately informed his colleagues about the incident and due to their unity, they came to his rescue.

“As a rule the LBG members set, such kind of incidents is a group concern, so my fellow bodaboda riders spread the news and within a spur of moment they were able to get the two suspects with my motorbike,” said Njoroge.

The suspects had not gone much far from where they overpowered Njoroge as they were caught along Mathathia railway station heading toward Mai-Mahiu. They were burned to ashes by the angry mob and the stolen bodaboda was recovered.
