The County government of Uasin Gishu will from September begin offering sponsorship program to students joining the Kenya Medical Training Institute (KMTC).

The county is already sponsoring 1,800 students to study various technical courses at the Rift Valley Technical Training Institute (RVTTI) in Eldoret town.

Twenty youths from each of the 30 wards were selected annually to study at RVTTI since 2014.

According to area governor Jackson Mandago, by sponsoring the medical students, they seek to ensure their youths are strategically prepared to get employed at the ultra-modern Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital expected to be constructed in Eldoret town.

"When we sponsor our youth to study medical courses, they will stand big chances to get employed when the new hospital is completed in another two to three years," Mandago said during his campaigns in Kesses, Monday.

"By the time the facility is complete, we shall be having qualified personnel to take up the jobs at stake," he added.
