A team from the Norrkopings Municipality led by Fatma Mohamud, Anders Karlson and Erik Gustafsson on Tuesday visited Kipkaren estate which was selected to pilot the initiative due to the area's proximity to the Kipkaren dumpsite.

During the visit, the team which was accompanied by the County Environment CeC Mary Njogu promised to rehabilitate the estate and make it cleaner.

"This initiative will benefit not only the locals but also schools around here," noted Ms Mohammed.

"Due to litter all over this place, locals are faced with hygenic problems which we hope we will be able to resolve and ensure they live in a cleaner environment," she added.

The Environment CeC welcomed the partnership which she pointed out that will help improve hygiene especially at Kipkaren primary school.

The team later visited the dumpsite for assessment.
