President Uhuru Kenyatta received a warm reception in Kisumu County on Tuesday, a region perceived to be opposition’s stronghold.

Speaking in Kisumu in one of his political tours and to inspect government projects, the president said every Kenyan has a right to elect a leader of their choice.

“Kenyans have a right to elect whoever they want. Whether you are a Luo, Kamba or Kikuyu, you are free to vote for your leader, everyone has the right to vote and that is why I will come back next month to ask for your votes for a second term,” Uhuru said.

The president also urged the youth not allow themselves be used by politicians as the county in headed to the general election.

Meanwhile Winners at the just-concluded Kenya National Drama Festival entertained President Uhuru Kenyatta at the Kisumu State Lodge.

Mr Chokera Kahura, who is the chairman for the festival, said 14 teams from pre-primary, primary, secondary, teachers training colleges, and universities will stage their theatrical pieces during the occasion that will be graced by the head of state.

However Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandanyi dismissed the president’s visit to the late region as belated non beneficial arguing there is no positive impact the Jubilee administration has done since they took power in 2013
