President Uhuru Kenyatta, who is also the party leader for Jubilee has fired a warning shot at politicians planning to cause chaos during the party primaries ahead of the August polls.

"As a party, we will not tolerate violence. As president, I will also not tolerate violence and anybody who engages in acts of violence will be dealt with in accordance with the law, irrespective of who they are," Kenyatta said.

Speaking to the press at state house, Kenyatta said that all political parties taking part in the nominations had been given police protection to stem any acts of violence or hooliganism.

This comes a day after the Jubilee party postponed its party primaries to Tuesday next week amid the rising tensions and political temperatures within the party.  

Kenyatta who is seeking a second term in office with his Jubilee Party which is already gripped by election fever and primaries has witnessed acts of violence and mysterious disappearance of political aspirants.
