Nairobi county governor hopeful Miguna Miguna has lashed out the President Uhuru Kenyatta for concentrating on the construction of the Standard Gauge Railway(SGR) while Kenyans continue to suffer from hunger and unemployment.

According to Miguna, it was illogical for the President to travel to China to have a deal with the Chinese to fund a second face of the SGR while the is a looming food crisis in the country.

"What is the priority now? Is it to feed the people or to feed this beast called SGR that we are not sure will back the returns that would be able to feed Kenyans," he told NTV's AMLive show on Tuesday.

"If i was advising the government and i wanted them to win the elections, because i believe they want to win, i will tell the president to rescind the negotiation to have the Chinese to fund the SGR and come back and deal with issues of poverty, lack of jobs and hunger. That is what Kenyans need," he added.

Miguna has also blamed the county government for the current food situation in the country adding that Agriculture is a devolved function hence the county government has a hand in the crisis.

"The current situation should not just be blamed on the national government since Agriculture is a devolved function. The government of Nairobi, for example should be blamed for not being able to feed his people," he said.
