A controversial video has emerged showing alleged supporters of Senator Omar Hassan attacking those backing the re-election of the incumbent Ali Hassan Joho.
In a video shared by Daily Nation, a convoy of cars ferrying Omar’s supporters come across a vehicle with Joho’s campaign posters. A number of Omar’s supporters are seen jumping out of their cars to beat the occupants of the car with Joho’s posters. A voice of a man is heard questioning why Joho and Omar supporters are clashing yet they belong to the same team, NASA.
The rivalry between the duo has continued to take center stage in the governorship race. On July 3 Joho accused Omar of being used to divide NASA voters at the Coast. Joho said that Omar has been paid by Deputy William Ruto to ensure that he (Joho) does not retain his post.
“Our opponent is Jubilee, and if not Jubilee it is brokers of Jubilee. Some have 'spoilt for us'. They came pretending to be our friends yet they have been sent by Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto," he said, as quoted by the Star.
He added: “I have information one (Omar) has been sent by Ruto to come and disturb me here. I tell him, don’t allow yourself to be sent. Tell Ruto himself to come here." Joho said.
