The ODM chief arrived in the town accompanied by Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire and a host of other opposition politicians.

His visit comes less than a week after President Uhuru Kenyatta visited the county to market his Jubilee Party.

Meru is considered a battleground for both Jubilee and the opposition and each of the coalitions target to fetch a sizable number of votes during the August polls.

Raila, during the 2013 elections got over 30,000 votes in Meru and expects to net more in August.

"Over 30,000 people voted for our Movement in Meru County in the last election," Raila said at a rally in the town.

"We will not give up on our mission to create a nation for all Kenyans. Join us in this journey by registering as a voter before the February 15th deadline. Make your voice count!"

He also addressed rallies in Makutano before heading to Maili Tatu and Laari.
