Investors from Sweden have already agreed to help finance the project that will see waste recycled into steam energy, gas and hot water for industrial and domestic use.

According to Uasin Gishu County Environment Chief Officer Simon Kemei, project feasibility test is already ongoing.

"The project is a joint partnership between us and our neighbours Elgeyo Marakwet with the help of a Swedish investor," noted Kemei, Monday.

"Last week we agreed to set up a recycling plant that will help make our environment cleaner and safer," he added. The two counties will be providing waste management to the plant.

"The Swedish investors have urged us to prioritise garbage collection to ensure the recycling factory gets adequate waste material," Kemei said.
