Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero now wants the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to ensure the voter register is devoid of anomalies ahead of the August 8 general election.

According to Kidero, the register still has some glaring errors despite an audit by the KPMG, the Star has reported.

"They told us that only 92,000 people have died since 2013. But what we know is that over 70,000 people die each year in Nairobi. This means that for the four years; close to 300,000 voters have died in Nairobi alone," said Kidero on Friday.

The city ODM governor aspirant cited the case of Geoffrey Atei who he claimed registered in Embakasi East in 2013 but his national Identity Card now shows that he’s a voter in Tana River.

Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho who drummed up support for Kidero added; "We don't want to take part in an election where everyone is contesting on fake ground. Why should we compete when someone else wants to determine the winner and loser for us?"

Joho at the same time urged city resident to reject Senator Mike Sonko of Jubilee Party saying he’s Deputy President William Ruto’s project.

The duo made the remarks during a campaign rally in the CBD and Kariokor market.

They were accompanied by Nairobi Senate aspirant Edwin Sifuna and ODM Starehe parliamentary candidate Steve Mbogo.
