The only way to make your grievances known and heard by the authorities in Kenya is through protesting. But this did not work for Boda boda operators in Kisii town. For the past several months bodaboda operators have had to use the longest route to reach town. This came about following Governor James Ongwae directive to close the short route to town through Mashauri to Barclays to town. Mr John Omuge a bodaboda operator at the university stage said this to say."I can't reelect the governor for not bringing order in the town because it is too congested and most of my friends have been sentenced to jail because the couldn't give the county askaris "kitu kidogo." Mr Joseph Maina a Boda boda operator at the Mashauri stage also lamented that the fuel prices are high, with high stage fee and long routes while the customers still want to pay the same fare. He has urged the governor to open up the short route to town and also deal with congestion issue. He said he won't vote in the governor come 2017 and this is a sentiment that is shared by many Boda boda operators in Kisii town.
