Mary Bitutu a Kisii town resident, said that she had applied for the document early last month but up to date the ID card was yet to be received at Huduma centre Kisii.

Another victim Abraham Makori, who had severally checked whether his card had been sent to Kisii, blamed registration department of the delay.

"It is now the 7th time I am checking on my ID in vain. Something should be done because I applied two months ago,” he said.

Makori also said that he was saddened by the huge number of ID cards that were lying uncollected at Huduma centre Kisii yet his was yet to be received.

This comes even after President Uhuru Kenyatta issued a directive that ID cards to be prepared in a duration of three days time.

Kisii County Deputy Governor Joash Maangi asked the electoral body to extend time so that the affected youth register as voters.

“We have noted that if the registration process ends as scheduled many people will be locked out, I ask IEBC to extend more time,” he said.

His words were also echoed by Presidential elections chief campaigner in Nyamira Charles Mochama who also said that there was need for IEBC to extend time.

“We have heard several complains from the young that they applied for ID cards but to date they are yet to get them. IEBC should also consider this,” he said.
