The National Super Alliance (NASA) lead campaigner in Nairobi and Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama has urged the Luhya community to stay put in the coalition ahead of next month's general election.

According to Muthama, NASA pentagon members Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula have been given key positions in the sharing of power in the national government.

“It will be a big mistake for the Luhya community to think of supporting a Jubilee candidate because NASA itself is a brainchild of Musalia Mudavadi," said the Senator as quoted by the Star.

Muthama made the remarks during a meeting with Luhyas in Nairobi on Sunday.

He was accompanied by Governor Evans Kidero, his deputy Jonathan Mueke, ODM Senate candidate Edwin Sifuna among other leaders.

On his part, Kidero assured his supporters of peace in the city, urging them to stay on and vote instead of fleeing to their rural homes.

"We urge you not to go home. Let us adopt polling stations and ensure that only those who have to vote upcountry are travelling,” said Kidero who is seeking a second term.

The meeting came hot on the heels of another one held on Saturday where a section of members from the community said they will back Mike Sonko and Johnson Sakaja's gubernatorial and senatorial bids respectively.
