The fabric holding the coalition together has been tested since January 30 when the other coalition principals, Kalonzo, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetang'ula, failed to turn up for Raila Odinga's controversial swearing-in. The three leaders were eventually termed as 'betrayers'.

This was aggravated a couple of days ago when Raila met President Uhuru Kenyatta and the two leaders decided to quash their beef and work together for the prosperity of the country. However, the other NASA leaders faulted Raila for making such a decision without involving them.

Since the meeting between Raila and Uhuru, NASA affiliate parties have been engaging in back and forth leading to the eventual ouster of Wetang'ula as the Senate Minority Leader.

Registering the coalition will help lead to the selection of an overall leader who guides the political outfit. At the moment, NASA has four leaders with each demanding his view to be heard and heeded to hence the friction being witnessed.

Similarly, registering the coalition as a party will help harness loyalty from all its leaders as they will be abiding to the doctrines of a single political outfit. At the moment, the political parties have renegade leaders who do not even listen to their party leaders.

The recent ouster of Wetang'ula from Senate leadership could also have been avoided if the coalition was a party as the senators would have been barred from making decisions according to their affiliate parties. To avoid a re-occurrence of the same, the NASA leadership should quash their recent disagreements and register the coalition as a party.

Registering the party will also help unite all the supporters of the coalition as they will be identifying with one political idea. Just as Jubilee did, NASA supporters will not identify themselves as ODM, Wiper, ANC or Ford-Kenya supporters but rather NASA party supporters.
