For one to ascend to power in this nation he or she is expected to command support from major voting blocs if the current political situation is anything we go by.

Deputy William Ruto is losing ground in the Rift valley after Bomet Governor opted to walk away from Jubilee. The Deputy President is also not in good terms with the likes of Baringo Senator Gideon Moi, who is defending his seat.

The high number of leaders fighting Ruto clearly shows that he is a man under siege.  Ruto will have an uphill task rallying the region to back his candidature.

He is also not guaranteed the support of Mt Kenya in 2022. His presidential dream will be as good as dead if Jubilee loses in August since each of the communities is likely to go back to the drawing board.

As much as Kalonzo has also continued to face challenges, he is still the most powerful leader in Ukambani. Kalonzo will have an upper hand in the 2022 elections if Former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga beats President Uhuru Kenyatta in the August general elections.

He has continued to enjoy the support of his community despite having shelved his presidential ambitions for the sake of Raila Amolo Odinga.

Lastly, Kalonzo enjoys cordial relationships with many Kenyans leaders. President Uhuru said that he has nothing personal against Kalonzo. Kalonzo has not made many enemies during his career. This will give him an advantage over Ruto.
