National Soccer Champions Wiyeta Girls and St Anthony from Trans Nzoia are the winners of the Rift Valley Secondary School Sports Association Term 2A Games that ended, Friday, in Eldoret.

Wiyeta beat Tartar girls from West Pokot 2-1 in the finals played at Hill School Eldoret.

Tartar first scored in the 26th minute through Milicent Yanot before Centrix Shikanga equalised in the 45th minute for a 1-1 score at the half time.

In the second half, Wiyeta rejuvenated themselves making incessant attacks on their opponents.

In the 54th minute Shikanga was lucky to get a pass from her teammate Laventine Lihema sending in a shot that sealed their victory 2-1 at the final whistle.

St Anthony narrowly defeated Ortum 1-0 in the finals with Daniel Chepkwony scoring the all-important goal in the 56th minute.

St Francis Cheptarit  of Nandi won the girls handball trophy after beating Kirandich from Nakuru  18-12 in the finals while Trans Nzoia’s Sinyereri narrowly won 24-23 against Saniak from Nandi in the boys category as Cheptil beat Kaptagat 51-17 to win the netball girls crown.

Secretary Rift Valley Secondary School Sports Association Kirwa Koech said the teams exhibited fierce competition and they were determined to shine at the national games set for next month.
