He noted many politicians had ascended to the leadership through the efforts of the youth whom for a long time, have been misused and neglected.

“This time round politicians should be thinking about the youth. Many have misused them or promised them good things but after election they disappear,” he said.

Cherarkei said the youth had continued to suffer, yet they were the major players in politics.

“We should think of programmes that will empower them economically and not to use them to cause violence in favour of a certain candidates. Those days are long gone and let us come together and reason on how to make strides in terms of equipping them with the right skills for the job,” Cherarkei said in Eldoret.

Currently several aspirants have contracted some of the youth to provide them with security (Men in Black) while majority are being bribed to support an aspirant and heckle others.

“I want to advise the youth to shun such politicians and support those with good policies that will change their lives. First they should ask them if they fulfilled what they promised them in the previous elections,” he added.
