The county government of Uasin Gishu has reiterated its commitment towards ensuring the growth of cooperatives societies.
Trade CeC Phillip Melly said they had put in place measures to benefit the Savings and Credit Cooperatives Organisations.
Speaking at the Teachers Advisory Center (TAC) in Eldoret town during the launch of three hawker's Sacco's, Melly said the County had disbursed loans worth over Sh80 million to Saccos for the past one year.
"Our interest is to grow these Saccos as we believe they can play a critical role in our economic development," said Melly.
"We have been able to disburse over Sh80 million loans to these Saccos and we are adding another Sh100 million for this financial year. We want to help hawkers acquire more stock and expand their businesses," he added, Tuesday.
