West Pokot Senator John Lonyangapuo has called for peace along the West Pokot-Elgeyo Marakwet border.
The Senator said without peace development will not be achieved.
He spoke on Wednesday when he led a team of leaders and elders in the county in preaching for peace.
"I led a team of peace makers, at the top of Kamalokon Mountain, which is at the boarder of West Pokot and Elgeyo Marakwet Counties," the Senator said in a Facebook post on Wednesday.
"I thank God, for it is well with our people now. This year, 2017, is the year of restoration of our cherished peace."
There has been instability along the West Pokot-Elgeyo Marakwet border for the last close to five months.
Leaders from Elgeyo Marakwet blame their counterparts from West Pokot of organising cattle raids in the county.
Late 2016, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen called for the deployment of security forces along the border to calm the rising tension.
