The Kenya Premier League (KPL) has relegated Sofapaka, Thika United and Muhoroni Youth from the 2017 version of Kenya's top flight league.

This is after the three failed to meet the deadline for complying with the new FIFA regulations for the licensing of football clubs.

The licensing involved three levels of satisfaction.

Category A, which was mandatory, touched on financial and legal issues and FIFA's reports have shown that the trio failed to impress here.

The three still have a chance to play in the National Super League (NSL) where they are expected to make application for the license and provide all the required documents before January 20.

In  case they don't meet this NSL deadline, they will be sunk deeper to Division One

Only Ulinzi and Tusker start the new season with a full compliance license while the rest will play with a provisional license and will have until the mid-season break to have received the FIFA nod.
