A seasoned football coach has said too much sex by players is affecting clubs.

Former Ghanaian coach Malik Jabir, who coached the Black Stars at the 1968 and 1972 Olympic Games and coached Ghana in 2003, was quoted by soccer laduma site saying players should focus more on the game than girls.

"A lot of today's players cannot play 90 minutes because they get tired so easily," he said.

"And you know why? Because they don't sleep enough and don't train enough and they engage in too much sex," he added.

Jabir said players find it difficult to resist young female fans who throng stadiums with screams during matches.

"There are beautiful young girls in Ghana and they won't leave them alone.

"There is time for sex and time for football, but if you mix the two, you will never reach the top."

Recently, three players of AFC Leopards were grounded after they reportedly tested positive to a Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD).
